Our Favourite Moments of 2015

What a tremendous year it has been for us here at The Wedding Project, and as we bid goodbye and hello to the new year, let’s take a quick look back on 12 memorable milestones thus far.

1. Lionel & Rebecca

Simple and sweet, Lionel and Rebecca, had their wedding all in one day, from the church ceremony to the tea ceremony and the dinner reception in Sheraton KL, it was a full day for them both. Communicating with the couple was easy and it made our journey together that much more pleasant. They are definitely one of the sweetest couple we’ve worked with! Wishing you both the sweetest of beginnings ahead!

2. Jvvy & Kate

Styling for an intimate garden wedding was really interesting for this one; Gita Bayu stood out with their venue, with a floating pavillion on the lake on one end; that was where Jvvy and Kate were solemnised. From decorating photo album tables, to the dessert table, to including a pink and blue unity sand, it truly was a beautiful outdoor wedding.

3. Celebrity’s Wedding - Elaine Daly & Dr Nick Boden

A whirlwind romance, they all say, and boy were we part of that journey, planning local celebrity Elaine Daly’s wedding as she weds Dr Nick Boden in December 2014 with 2 celebrations; one in Ciao Ristorante KL and another more intimate garden wedding in Puncak Dani. A year later and today, blessed with a beautiful baby girl, we are most definitely overjoyed for the beginnings of their life long journey.

4. Nexus Bridal Fair

Wedding fairs are always tricky, but when we heard about Connexion @ Nexus Bangsar South a week before the fair in May, we knew we needed to be a part of it! With only less than a week to prepare for our booth, we knew it was vital for us to stand out from the crowd. If you came by our Table 11 booth, you would have noticed our rustic dusty pink setup playing around with frames & fresh flowers as our base.

Wanting to showcase our specialties, the layout of the table displayed a journey of what were some of the areas when planning your wedding. We covered every aspect of display from wedding rings, bridal bouquet, corsages, favours, wishing cards, menu, to dessert table items, flower girl wreaths and even bubble confetti!

5. Beautiful Garden Wedding at Wanaka

Yet another garden wedding for us this year! This time around we are adorning Wanaka the Bungalow in Damansara Heights. Bride Zolynn, was one of our more unique brides, wanting to go with the turquoise/mint tones, with some burlap instead. The highlight for the wedding was the feature backdrop in which we kept the focal point on the majestic tree, dressing it with strips of lace, mint and turquoise with added flowers to spruce up the area. Albeit slight hiccups here and there, it was indeed a lovely wedding witnessing the couple, Zolynn and Ivan, exchange their vows under the sky with perfect weather no less; we definitely have to thank God for that!

6. Jermaine & Kevin's Movie Themed Wedding

Back in June this year, bride and groom Jermaine & Kevin had two wedding receptions and both we were a part of from the planning stages, and to execution. For the wedding in Majestic KL they decided on a movie themed wedding, styling their pre-wedding shoot around that theme thus came the props such as 3D glasses, popcorn boxes and VHS tapes; if you were born in the 80s (or earlier) you would know what these are! To end it all off, as little gifts to all who helped them out, they gave us all director board USBs; cute isn’t it!

7. Adrian & Belle

Fun loving couple Adrian & Belle came to us just less than 6 months before their wedding date with only vendors secured without entirely knowing what their next steps were. With their busy schedule, the couple came to us and we never looked back since.

The planning process was as smooth as a baby’s bum, but with all events, it was only a matter of time before something cropped up. Just days before the big day, the vendor that the couple engaged to provide the alcoholic beverages came back to us saying that the brand we requested for had limited stock even though the bookings were made months before. Always being on our toes, we immediately dug through our list of alcohol vendors to seek out that particular brand. In just a couple hours and with favour from the man above, we managed to secure it and even at a cheaper cost!

We thought that little bump was our trial, but only if we knew better! What came after showed us that we just could not mess around with weather; it was beyond our control. With the unpredictable monsoon weather against us, the team was on our toes for plan B for the evening ROM ceremony that supposedly had a pool side view. With just an hour to the arrival of guests, the team and decorators were skeptical with the clouds that were teasing. Having to make a decision swiftly, our project manager went with her gut and made the call to move the ceremony into the hotel’s function room. Just minutes after all fixtures and decorations were moved, the weather poured; like cats and dogs, so heavy that it caused many of our guests to be stuck in traffic due to flash floods that happened around the city!

No doubt being indoors wasn’t ideal, but we still made the room as cozy and beautiful. The team was relieved that the couple thought it was still as beautiful as they imagined too!

All in all, we passed our trials with flying colours and even managed to keep a secret surprise video the bridesmaids did for the couple!

By far one of the most kind, fun and trusting couple we’ve worked with! The Wedding Project wishes you all the happiness this world brings and may your love for one another grow as your anniversary count grows, Adrian & Belle! <3

8. Felix & Veronica

Aside from entrusting us with the planning and coordination of their wedding, Indonesian couple Felix & Veronica also kept their vendors numbered by engaging us as their wedding decorators too! With the bride’s theme colour in mind; fuchsia, the team set out to propose to the couple an elegant outlook to the vibrant colour by encouraging the couple to up the notch by having us bring in a white carpet instead of the traditional red. For their church ROM ceremony arch that was later on reused as the entrance of the dinner reception ballroom, the team did a flower panel arch with elegantly done up cream drapes using hydrangeas and roses in pastel blue, cream and fuchsia.

Let’s just also point out what an enjoyable time it was for the team when preparing the couple’s fuchsia flower paper poms photo wall! Decked up with a simple monogram and attracting attention with an elegant white carpet frame, the couple engaged an instant print photo booth vendor equipped with photo props to keep guests occupied.

Guests were truly entertained as the couple engaged their dancer friends to perform their dinner reception’s second walk in and what a sight it was for everyone to see professionals in their element!

9. Staff Retreat and the TWP move!

Who says no to staff retreats? The team jumped on board as soon as there was a little gap of free time on our hands before the storm came and was swept away with the haze to Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort for a short and sweet getaway!

Shortly after the relaxation, the team packed up our belongings and bid goodbye to our little office in Kota Damansara and relocated to our new home office in USJ, Subang. Did we mentioned we love packing and unpacking? :p All in all, it was teamwork that got us going and moving things in a jiffy!

10. Great Gastby Themed Wedding - Dr Ivan & Miss Zolynn

Glitz and glamour! It was a spectacular evening with our bride and groom Zolynn and Ivan who brought us all back to the 20s with their rendition of a Great Gatsby (gold and purple tones!) While choosing a venue for your wedding may seem hard for some couples, it was an easy task for these two. Thus in line with the ambience and overall colonial feel of the building, it seemed perfect for the couple to go along with the 20s theme. Shimmers or gold and silver could be seen glinting the event while the life-sized LOVE letter Marquee was one of the crowd's favourite spot to strike a pose. With feathers and pearls highlighting the event, the wedding was truly glamourous and most definitely a night to remember! Congratulations again Dr Ivan Yau and Miss Zolynn Hee!

11. Danny's Marriage Proposal

Ending 2015 on a high, we were entrusted to deliver the beginning of Danny’s happily ever after by planning his marriage proposal! Here’s a man who will go through heaps and bounds to win the woman of his heart. Without any music knowledge on him, Danny took up piano lessons with a professional piano teacher that we found because Siau Wen (then girlfriend) always like men who played the piano. With the song ‘Endless Love’ behind his belt and a rock in his pocket, we planned out a surprise Christmas gift exchange cum wedding proposal night out in Giovino Changkat. In the end, she said yes! Looks like wedding bells will be ringing soon, yes? Congratulations Danny and Siau Wen!

12. Styled Shoot for Female Magazine

The ultimate trial to our styling was a shoot we did for Female Magazine. With only a few days to come up with the concept and plan the execution of the theme, we managed to pull it off in such a short time, managing to wow everyone! We wanted the setting to be quirky and fun, and to fit family or friends coming together for brunch and sharing their appreciation for each other. Overall the details in the ceiling, table and chair décors made an impression that will last forever.

Look forward to Female Magazine February 2016 edition!
